Amuzilo : Kid’s Paradise

Since the Ile Saint-Louis has always been very appreciate, and especially during summer days, Nathalie Heckel, the generous manager of the Jeu de Paume hotel, still shares her shopping tips with us. Today, we’re not going to discover a new corner, but a very old one instead. Children at heart will fall for Amuzilo, legendary Parisian toy shop.

Designer Shelter
Opened in 1962, it was the first wood toys shop of Paris. It became so much famous than even today former district inhabitants still come, reminding their childhood. And they always leave with a big smile on their faces. Since 2008, the store is run by Jeanne & Lorna.

Because they care about the authenticity of toys, our two ladies rather choose noble material as wood and work a lot with great designers (French and German often). Sometimes Amuzilo launches even exclusive collections as they did for Farandole, Gribouille and On chuchote à mon oreille. Thousands of wonders are displayed on the shells, here there’s no real flagship toy but a plethora of lovely things. Besides, surrounded by all these treasures (rag-dolls, wooden toys, plush, castles, princess suits, board games and many other educational games) everyone feels like a lucky child.
